This week in the Sun, we share information about a rising star in the arts world – the Yountville Art Walk – created in 2009 and managed by a dedicated team of locals for whom sharing art is a passion.

There’s another “stroll” of sorts in Yountville – it’s known as the “tree walk” at the Veterans Home, site of more than 300 varieties of trees – many rare or native to other countries. Bob Heiss, a 101-year-old resident of the home and the man who led the initial project to place identifying signs as each tree, is still keeping an eye on the trees and the signs to this day.

Also this week, a local advisory board reviewed plans that owner Ren Harris has for reopening Pancha’s bar and sent its recommendation for approval to the Town Council, which has the final say and will make a determination on Sept. 17.

Additionally, there are officially four candidates for two seats on the Yountville Town Council – a race that will be decided in the Nov. 5 General Election. A public forum is set to meet and hear the candidates on Oct. 9. In the meantime, what questions would you pose to the candidates if you could? Let us know.
